We would like to invite you to the final exhibition at CSKX on Goodsway.
Due to the ever imminent redevelopment of King's Cross CSKX is soon to move from this site. To mark the end of this period we will hold an exhibition of artists who have worked, exhibited or been involved with the studios and its members since 1990. CSKX was formed in 1990 by Leo and a friend after leaving Angel Studios in Islington. The studios in this time have housed artists, designers, writers and a theatre company. Theatre de Complicite had offices here at the start of the '90s. The fashion design group Commun, which included Fabio Piras, Lars Sture and others were based and exhibited here. The studios never had a dedicated exhibition space but events and exhibitions have been a constant and include; an installation/dance performance by Carolyn Roy, experimental jazz performances, the exhibition House no Garden and the most recent series of events, the Projection Project, where artists have created works specifically for this site, including Dan Hays and Gareth Jones. The exhibition will include Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas who are represented by works from the days of The Shop; original drawings for Teletubbies by Andrew Davenport, the genius behind the programme, which he began to develop at CSKX in the early nineties; Jane and Louise Wilson who have in the past used the space to photograph and present work; and installations created specifically for CSKX, such as the decorative cable work made by Nicky Hirst for the entrance in 1992. This is the last opportunity to visit this site, an extraordinary space situated amongst the gas works on Goodsway, and one of the last to this area before it is changed beyond recognition (but don't hold your breath!).
